    Hi Everyone,

Not sure if this is in the right forum.. But anyway, I have a powder blue tang I just got about 3 days ago and he is by himself in a 55g quarantine tank. I'm not new to saltwater fish but I am to quarantine tanks and would like to know how long I should keep him in there? He is eating well already, his colors look good and no parasites or illnesses yet. I plan on keeping him in there atleast another 2 weeks but after that I'm not sure how long is good enough?

I think the recommended is 4-6 weeks. It can take a while for some illnesses to show up.

The LFS that deals in reef aquarium only, when he gets a new fish he will not sell it for 2 weeks period. I do agree with rogersjw that some illnesses do take a while to show up. I would look at it this way. How long did it take to get your tank as nice as it is? So, I would wait it out a bit before adding new fish, especially if where you got it from does not pratice quarantining before they sell them.
