In the last few days I have lost my Tomini Tang and my Powder brown tang. I suspect the Tomini brought something into my tank. And I did not have a quarantine tank.

I have a spare 20g tank I am going to setup as a quarantine tank, however I have a few questions.

How do you keep the tank going when there are no fish to be quarantined?

I have a small hang on filter I was going to use for mechanical filtration and I was going to put some live rock rubble in the tank for bio. I also don't have a protein skimmer for this tank will this be ok?

When quarantining a fish what do you treat them with if they do have problems?

That's all I can think of right now.

How big is your tank? Tangs will get sick from stress and if your tank is too small it could be a factor as to why they perished. For the Quarantinetank you could add a small permanent resident like a goby that will not bother the fish you are quarantining.A small CUC will help as well. You will not need a skimmer as long as you don't overfeed and do regular water changes. As far as treating the new fish it will depend on what is actually wrong with them (if anything) before treatment can be established.8)
