I came home today and my remora pro was overflowing with clear water. I turned it off and emptied the cup and plugged it in and it filled back up in less than 5 minutes, no matter how I adjusted the cup. Any ideas what would cause this? I recently purchased the surface skimmer and it has definitley made the skimmer not pull as much, was working like a champ prior to the addition.

is it still a new skimmer? has your water level changed?

Pull the injector and look to see if it, or the venturi portion is clogged. Less air = more water.

There is no reason the surface skimmer would adversely effect the skimmer like that :)

You don't need to pull the injector, the injector is not clogged. I purchased a Remora Pro S two weeks ago and I had the same experience. Always overflow with clear water, like half gallon per hour, micro bubble overflow into the tank. The reason is simple, the skimmer still in the break in period. Now this is the third week my Remora Pro S with Mag 5 start acting normal. Just give it some more time.

By the way, do not use any additives. RO/DI water and salt only, otherwise it will overflow.

Well I took it apart today and blew through the mag pump with my mouth and cleaned out the Venturi nozzle and it is back to working fine. I didn't think it was a breaking in issue as it has been running for 3 months and pulling lots of gunk. Thanks for the help guys!

Having used the skimmer many times on numerous tanks, and knowing Jason from Aqua-C for, what, a decade now, I stand by my words. It could very be clogged or impacted, you cannot make that claim based off your one skimmer experience, sorry. What you see not always equate to what others see ;)

I stopped using skimmers with injectors like that for the very reason I stated, very easy to clog and when it does, it over flows. A single chiton or stray small snail can ruin your day.

Your welcome :) I'd make it part of your weekly maintenance routine. When you clean the cup, clean the injector and the airline leading up to it.
