Got a quick question about cycling a QT tank. If I used water out of my existing tank would the QT need to cycle? If so how does this work since there will be no rock or sand in there, only the water I put in.

No rock, no sand - no cycle.

Good deal. That's what I was thinking but at the same time I felt like I was missing something.

It's sad that 5 years into this hobby I'm setting up my first QT tank. Could have saved myself a LOT of heartache had I done this a while ago. :-[

Watch your ammonia and nitrite closely. Mine went up in a 10 gal qt tank within a week with nothing in it but a fish, heater, a piece of pvc pipe and an airstone, and I didn't overfeed either. ??? Watch the parameters and good luck.
