Just got a firefish for my new tank a couple days ago and it's just been sitting on the sand since I got it. I know these fish are shy and will usually hide for a while but this one is right in front of my tank and isn't swimming at all. Tried to feed it a flake and it didn't seem interested at all (the hermits got it instead). Anyone else with a firefish experience similar behavior? Sorry I don't have test kits yet so no water params.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
This is odd behavior I have never had a Fire Fish (Dart Fish) sit on the sand. Dart Fish are poor shippers and pretty sensitive during acclimation. A fantastic fish in my book but it can be hard to get a nice healthy specimen.

    Good luck

Tank is a few weeks old. Cycled with live rock. The fish was swimming around and healthy looking at the pet store but when I got home from work he was on the sand and has been there since. Its breathing normal and still looks healthy though

my experience with firefish is they are generally very shy, running for cover every time you approach the tank. Also they do seem to enjoy being in pairs.

My Helfrichi must be weird then...he hangs out right in front of the tank all day long. Like right in front. Doesn't phase him at all when anyone walks by the tank.

+1 my purple firefish love being out in the open and nothing seems to phase them. They eat like pigs too.

any update on the firefish? My experience with firefish is that they are very shy when you get them, but they dont sit on the sand bed, they find a hole to dart into and hid.
