I have been reading about lights and wonder what the difference is between halide and halogen lights. Can halogen lights be used?
I am new to this hobby and want to do right for corrals.

Halogen can not be used. Mainly because they are a very inefficient light producing more heat than light. Also they do not make Halogen lights in the colour spectrum adequate for aquariums.

I would need more information to answer that question. If you could get the info off of the ballast or nameplate information on the fixture I could probably let you know.
