I started my tank just before Christmas, its a 55 gal salt water, tank came in a kit, I bought a ton of live rock. now having the tank for around a month and a half I’m noticing that the rocks seem to have some sort of reddish color to them that is also turning the gravel on the bottom of the tank red as well. Is this anything to be worried about?

if it doesn't rub off the rock its coraline algae. if it feels slimy and comes off its cyano bacteria.

if its cyano check your husbandry.

cut back your feeding. alot of new tanks eventually go through this.

Thanks a bunch, I have one other question to throw in as well, I’ve got a fluval 404 canister filter which I ran for about a week but it seemed to make the fish breath more rapidly. The most noticeable was my puffer fish. so I switched back to the original one that came with the kit. any ideas?
