    hey all
i purchased two bubble tip anemone's 3 days ago.
the first one so far is in the original spot i put him in, but he will not fully open hes all scrunched up.
the second one moved from the rock i put him in and is on the sand bed, and liek the first one all scrunched up.
my main question is how long until they find a spot they like and fully open. i know these creatures are funnny and they will move and move till there happy. hoever the first one hasnt moved in three days hes staying there just not opening. and the second one has been scrunched on the send bed for about 12 hours. and suggestions. i know the key is patients and just let them be. just looking for words of wisdom

What are your params? What kind of lighting and what are you using for flow? How old is the tank? I would move the one off the sand, they prefer to be on something a bit more solid. I read a while ago that people were getting nems to stay put by putting them on their own rock island because they wont move off the rock onto the sand.

whats "perfect" . . . got any numbers? What size tank, and again how long has it been setup? I added a RBTA to my tank last week and it only took him 1 day to plant himself and fully open up.

That didn't work for me. Mine stayed put for a while, explored his rock, then detached his foot and floated to another rock, where he re-attached. If they don't like where they're at, they will find a way to move. He set up shop at the opposite side of the tank, nearly at the surface, in a high current area and seems happy.

Bubble tips are notorious for moving around. They can be happy for months then all of a sudden start moving around.

Usually they will open up in they first day. Without actual numbers of your parameters it is hard to tell if there is a problem

Very true! I forgot they could totally detatch and float away. what I was getting at was they dont like to be on the sand.

ok say they dont move and they seem to be attached, but theres still not expanding is that normal for new in tank.
tank is a 30 gallon, i know some say thats to small but the tank is set up for a clown fish breeding tank, theres two clowns, maybe 30 punds of live rock and a sand bed. the tank has been running sence last october so a little over a year. up until 2 weeks ago it was a full blown reef tank. but i sold all my corals for my clown adventure.

my parameters are perfect like i said but here you are
    ph 8.2
    nitrite is 0
    nitrate is 0
    ammonia is 0
    temp is 82
    calcium is about 420
