I just today got an Eheim Canister Filter. I hooked it up and got it running just a little while ago. The water coming out of the output tube isnt a full steady flow, is that normal? It is definitely heavier than a trickle but its not a strong continuous flow? Anybody have any comments or suggestions? Or is this normal?

Not familiar with that exact model - but if its noisy there many be some air trapped in there, which will reduce the flow , try gently wobbling the unit from side to side and see if any air is pushed through the return tube

do you have one of the quick disconnect valves closed a little bit and over looked it? I have done that a few time on my 2215 which is virtually the same filter just the one size larger? Or if you are using the spray bar....i know that i have accidentally crimped the hose with that snap on elbow piece that is used to wrap the hose over the top of the tank before the spray bar....

I've crimped my outlet hose (right off the canister) before. Sometimes it just takes a little bit to really get going. I know that with my 2213 it even took a couple days for it to quiet down and flush all the bubbles out of the system.

I checked all the shut-offs and they're all open. Well it came with two elbow pieces, however i didnt use them. One is fully enclosed (like the tube except its hard plastic) and the other is a half tube and a little bigger. That must be the one to put over the output to make it go over the top and into the tank? Anyways, none of the hoses are crimped. I am using the spray bar. Thats the one with all the holes in it right? But... I woke up this morning and it doesnt seem like the water is being pushed over the top of the tank for the output hose? I just want my filter to work properly... WHAT DO I DO???!!!

sounds like the filter just isnt primed.... If you feel the top of the canister with your hand is it hot? is the filter making any noise? and do you feel the motor vibrating when you put your hand on the top of the filter?

When i put my hand on top of the filter, it is not hot, it is making very little noise if i put my ear up to it, and i can feel the motor vibrating.

i know that the eheim classics are a pain to get primed so i get the feeling that is your problem...If you put your hand in the tank then put one finger in front of the little holes on the spray bar...do you feel a streams of water coming out from each individual hole Or any water coming out at all? If no than here is what you can do...

    1) if you have a spare maxi jet or small powerhead of the like available... Put it in the tank and use it to blow water up the filter intake while keeping the motor running on the eheim (you will have to remove the green filter screen in order to make this work.) that will force water to fill the chamber and all of the hosing lines of the filter and then it should start working....

    2) If you dont have a spare powerhead laying around... then ill explain this next option if need be since it may get a bit confusing :)
