I am looking for some advice about the Odyssea MH lighting system. First off I bought a used tank that came with them. Doing alittle research afterwards(stupid) I realized that there is more bad to these lights then good. However the budget doesn't allow to replace the lights just yet. Most of the negivivity is directed towards the ballast, is it possible to just switch the ballast out, if so has anyone done this with success? I have the newer version with 3 power cords coming into the machine and then the 4 or 5 going to the light. Should I worry about this unit or is it the older ones that were the issue. Please remember replacing them at this point isnt an option, I'm just trying to improve what I have, and by that I mean I dont want to burn down the house.

    Thanks

From what I've read it was the older models that were a problem.

Wow, I cant read...to go over what you already said :p

Yeah, the new versions should be "fine"...but that doesnt mean an individual is/will be good. I'd leave it for now. And yes, you can replace the ballast if that goes on you :)
