So I got a couple peppermint shrimp today and when I had acclimated them and dropped them in they kinda stood around for a few... well my angel zoomed right over and kinda stopped right in front of them, I am assuming this is was so that he could get a cleaning.

Well I decided to read a little about peppermint shrimp since I was under the assumption that they weren't true cleaners, but more scavengers. Is this true? Is my angel just being hopeful or do the shrimp actually clean? I am not sure what cleaning looks like but its been a couple hours and he still makes the occasional stop by one of them and just waits for a few minutes... It's kinda cute/hilarious, but I thought I would ask if they were doing anything for him... If not, I guess I may go get a skunk cleaner because he really looks like he wants some lovin' :)

yea they are scavengers in my tank the one in my main is brave though he will try to take food from my jaw fish which is double his size! scavengers arent all bad though they will eat excess food and such..

They are both scavengers and cleaners. The angel is trying to get cleaned - my tang does this all the time, both to my melanarus wrasse and cleaner shrimp. He doesn't get cleaned by the wrasse, though, and the cleaner won't always do it when the tang asks. I wouldn't worry about it being fed, since they'll eat nearly anything.

LMAO too funny. And I know exactly what you mean. I never had a peppermint clean a fish, but my Venustus angel loved my skunk cleaners.
