Question about Reef Octopus brand

    ok, so im a little confused about this comapany and their warranty.

    they have a 2 year warranty on my skimmer, but say they dont take back used skimmers? isint that what a warranty is, they take back a product if not working right? So if not, what does the two year warranty go for. When i emailed the company about my skimmer never working right they said they dont take back used skimmers but will try to help getting it to work right.

    So if anybody knows about the warranty policy and can clear up the confusion for me, please do so :D

    no this is what you do... you call them and complain A LOT and just keep complaining till they give you a replacement.
    If they are hesitant then you ask for a manager and tell the manager that you expect such a prestige company to have better company service!

    If this doesnt work then write a letter and make sure you include how un-helpfull their customer service reps were (names are helpful)

    edit: i have tons more tricks for getting what you want out of corporations so pm me if you want to go this route

    lol that's a good idea, still don't know if its worth the trouble though :D because here's the evidence that theirs a 2 year waranty and i've only had it for a few months

    Warranty
    Reef Octopus skimmers have the 2 year warranty on craftsmanship, one year on the water
    pump. We will take responsibility for the products as long as it’s been installed and used
    properly. Consumable spare parts are not applicable to the warranty.

    If Reef Octopus products do not appear to be working correctly or be defective, please
    contact your local dealer.

    lol, They might run you through some tests before they give in, seeing that statement in their guide... :( ew.

    want me to copy and paste the email and response here, to see what they said. i'm not wanting to do any bashing on them or anything becaue i know most of their products are very good and a respected company. So i want to go through the right steps to deal with them.

    I know you like your email, personally Id call them. Have all your info set up. How it was installed, how it was used, what the issues are, can you fix it, Receipt for date of purchase to let them know when you got it, Check your forum posts here, You've posted whenever you had an issue with the skimmer, so you have a time frame of the issues, get this all lined up and call...

    That would be the best solution IMO. They cant hide behind a screen! :) and you talk to someone who can run you through how to fix it. or possibly get you on the track to a new part or skimmer.

    good idea. and i probably have only posted half of my problems with my skimmer here on 3reef. I just hope i can find my receipt, i know i kept it, but just got to find it.

    I hope their not a sponser like John from Reefcleaners and has an account or anything ;D;D;D but jk, i agree completely. Thats the only way to get your way nowadays!

    Working in a retail stand point, It only makes the customer look bad. Follow through my way, you should get better results then bashing your way through the line of command with remarks. Make the company look bad, Not you.
