The RO unit is new only like 2 months old. I am just not to sure how well it is working. No idea of the tds of the "good" water coming out of it and no idea of the pressure going into it. In the very near future I am going to be purchasing both a TDS meter and a pressure gauge.

As stated, you don't want to drink RO/DI water, it is completely void of any minerals. Drinking RO water is completely safe, that is what Aquafina water is, and 90% of the store brand purified/filtered bottled water. Having said that, some RO/DI systems have a DI bypass switch for drinking water use. If your municipal is telling you to boil your water, I would do just that and not chance it. Your life is worth more than a gamble of the sediment and carbon blocks filtering out that bacteria. All it takes is one to get by and infect your body to give you a really bad time.
RO the water to pull out the heavy metals and chlorimine, etc. and boil it to kill any bacteria.

If you don't know how well the membrane is working then boil the water.
If the rejection is good then by all means drink either the RO or RO/DI, properly working membranes are a 99.999% barrier. I have seen direct reuse from raw wastewater to RO drinking water in a single process lots of times. It's done all the time, the hang up is in our heads.
