question about RODI compared to Purified bottled

i used to use tap water with prime for probably 10 years with instant ocean. although never had live corals only fish. it did fairly well not much algae.
then i purchased a small biocube and this is when i was attacked.
i switched to purified water and reef crystals which helped for a while and now attack of the green is back and worse than ever.
i believe ive got red algae as well.
i did a test on the publix purified water and it read zero.
my tap water reads 30 something...
what would be the difference between this bottled water that my guage says zero compared to RODI water that should read zero also....

right?

i just dont want to go spend 200 bucks and still have the same issue

 

What kind of test did you do on the water?

Bottled water, and water treated with prime, will never read 0 on a TDS meter, which is the test you should be using. RODI should always read 0. I don't know what kind of "purified" water you're using, either.

Yup. RODI us the way to go.

 

Im surprised its that low.Most "purified" water that Ive seen has been always over 100ppm TDS.
What is the reading without the prime?
