I know it's a good idea to quarantine fish, but what about shrimp?

Also, can I have a pepermint and a blood shrimp at the same time?

    Thanks!

i dont think you're supposed to. one of the purposes of a q tank is to keep inverts away from medications that are harmful to them (i.e. copper treatments, etc.). So i believe the answer is no.

Im not completely sure about the second question but i think the answer is yes. Both are docile species so i would think so. I know you can mix blood and skunk, so why not peppermint?

I have peppermint and skunk. No problems.

Not that that answers your question though ;)

Supposedly.. don't take my word a lone because I just recently read it some where...
Shrimp and other inverts are the most susceptible to carry teh Ick due to their inability to be treated for Ick.. I don't believe they're effected by it as Fish are.. but if your LFS just got them in and sold them to you.. could always be the chance it was carrying .. teh ick.. So definitely don't QT it with Copper treatments or anything like that..
but based on personal experience.. I would probably QT them for awhile or leave them at the LFS in a QT tank (as they do that for me often) before dumping them right into your display..

thats my advice.. better safe then sorry

if you do Qt them; make sure you use a different QT tank if you have treated fish in your quarantine tank before. Not sure if copper can be totally removed, so better safe than sorry.

I didn't QT my shrimp, and i remember asking the same question when i got my skunk shrimp about 7 months ago. The overall answer was no.

Thanks! I appreciate your input. noticed a small aiptasia & I would like to get a peppermint shrimp to see if that will help. I had also planned on getting a blood shrimp down the road, so I wanted to make sure they would be okay together.

    Karma to all!
