Hi, I just hooked up my tunze 9002 about a day ago and it is still considered to be in the break-in period. So the "skimmate is extremely clear and is it even worth replacing? If so do I top my tank back off with salt water or RO DI?

I'd only top off with saltwater the amount that is removed by the skimmer! The rest due to evaporation with RODI!

So should I always top skimmate off with saltwater or just during break in?

yeah, the amount of skimmate removed should be replaced with salt water! but you'll prob have more evaporation loss than skimmate loss unless your running very wet skimmate!

adjust your water height in skimmer so that the bubbles break at the base of the cup. that way the skimmate will build up thick before spilling into the cup.
