Hello all im new to saltwater tanks so be patient with me and hope to get some great help on here.
I have jus acquired a 12 gallon JBJ nano cube. I think for a first tank this is my best way to start. I wanted to ask about a skimmer for this and any other help in what i need to upgrade this to better.
I know like the Koralia 1 and a protein skimmer and would like some help on the lighting. Any links or help tips is greatly appreciated here.

I have been studying and reading these forums for 4 months now and have become passionate about these tanks. I also want to do it right so i can enjoy the beauty of life in the tank. Thanks ahead for any help i can get.

Hey Lion - welcome to the forum, Dont be discuraged by your lack of responce. The forum here ROCKS! This is the right place to be. Some advice...

    1. Take it slow, read before you do anything your unsure of (I still learn things every day and I have been doing this for years)
    2. If its a new tank you probably dont need a skimmer RIGHT away. I would focus on getting your levels good, PH, CA, KH, lmnop (lol), etc...
    3. Read & search the forum - od's are if you have a questions, someone has already asked it here.
    4. Are you farmiliar with the cycling process? Have you had any tanks before? fresh or salt in the past?

The Tunze Nano skimmer is widely accepted as a very good skimmer for nano tanks. Tunze Nano DOC Protein Skimmer 9002

As far as lighting is concerned, JBJ 12 gallon nanos come with their own light fixture, so you should just stick with that. They are not great, but are ok for a 12 gallon tank. 12 gallons is not going to be as easy as a larger aquarium might be. something that small will require more maintainence and you need to watch the water perameters more closesly than you would on a 29+ gallon system. Be aware of this and get a nice test kit for yourself.

yes i have had a freshwater tank before not salt water. I have learned to take it slow and have learned about the cycle process im going to set it up with sand and rock and let it cycle for at least 2 or 3 months before i start adding fish. This is because i have other stuff im doing before i can. Which is perfect timing from what i understand.
