question about sterilizers

    I don't have a sterilizer and honestly don't know what the needs/benefits of having one is other than obviously it makes your water more sterile.
    All I know is that you have to have one if you want to house a blue powder tang which, my son wants one but I think the tank is way too small (40g)

    I found this on CL though Coralife Turbo Twist 3x Uv Sterilizer for $20 and thought I should probably snatch it up. Opinions? Info? Thanks.

    No, you don't need one. No they are not needed if you have tangs. And definitely no to the tang in the 40. It will quickly outgrow the tank, and then you will have a sad son when you have to give him up!

    However, besides the extra power to run them and having to change the bulbs every 6-12 months, they can not hurt anything. Just look up reviews and see what others think about this specific one.
