Look at the cost of MH bulbs, most good ones are upwards to 60-90 per bulb. T5 bulbs are 20-25 each. Same cost, really. T5 may use a bit less electricity, and put out a bit less heat too, I'm a MH fan and wouldn't go back to T5 unless it's for a small tank. ... Wait, I'd probably get a viper or a sunpod for a nano.

ut oh a t5 vs mh debate !!!!!!!

i personally use both I am not partial to either or. but M/h have been proven. as t5's are still in most cases testing there waters, can acros & clams be kept under t5's? yes will they look good yes (with the right bulb arrangement) being that said say 6 bulbs 25 a piece X's 25 for pretty good bulbs looking @ 150.00 now if they are HO t5's thats probly twice a year or close to it. Same goes for m/h i would round and hit the middle and say 80 each X's say 2 thats 160.00 cost wise about the same heat wise t5's are less heat and less power cunsumption. but the big thing is t5's and right bulb configuration as to what you want to grow. I have seen alot of configs with 6.5k and alot of blues colors will pop with the right bulbs so in the start up you can spend alot in bulds just to get what you want out of them.
