I was wondering if they make a product for if my power were to go off and the syphon breaks on my overflow to keep my submersible pump from turning back on if the power comes back on when I am not home so my floor does not flood? Does this make sense to anyone??

Is your overflow the U-Tube kind?

You can drill a hole in your u-tube and glue an airline nipple into the hole. Then connect air line to that and then to an aqualifter pump to suck out any air that is trapped in the u-tube to avoid siphon breaks. It's the same concept as the CPR CS (constant siphon) overflows.

If I invest in a CPR CS overflow what size should I get. I currently have a submersible rio 2100 pump pushing 692 GPH but will eventually upgrade to the Rio 2500 (792 GPH). Should I go with the 800gph version or the 1200gph version of the overflow??

If you are worried about the return pump flooding you need to get a check valve for sump pumps.... like the ones you see at hardware stores, usually come in 1" and 1.5"

    Happy reefing!

How will the check valve help?

You could also hook the airline tube to any powerhead with an air inlet..same concept as the aqualifter pump..this how i have my overflow set up

U-Tube overflows don't lose their siphon in a power outage. You shouldn't have to worry about that. The things that cause siphon breaks are usually snails. Try it, stop your return pump and you'll see, your U-Tube will retain its siphon and start up again once you start your return pump.
