hi, i currently have a 20g with a relatively large xenia, i'm wanting to get a frogspawn but i have heard stony corals shouldn't be mixed with octocorals. is this true? anybody had any bad experience between the 2? the thing is i've seen these 2 mixed together in a pico and in a 30g so i'm a bit un sure about what to do since i like the xenia, yeh i want a frogspawn,
    cheers:)

LPS in pirticular can sting softies, and inturn they can release toxins to stunt the lps.
Hwoever i have xenia and lps no probs - just run carbon and leave adequate space.
but be warned, if the xenia is successful in your tank it becomes quite aggresive in the sense that it will take over. I am constantly hacking mine back.

This is an important warning that I think most people do not listen to. Xenia (and also green stars) are damn near unstoppable ! Years back I pulled rock after rock from my tank attempting to get rid of Xenia after letting it take over a 2+ foot square section of my reef. It covered everything in its path. IMO Xenia is a bad idea – unless you like to be in your tank all the time trimming it.

I use to cut it with a razor blade and siphon it out to a waste bucket.

Xenia should not be a problem and have an effect on the Frogspawn, unless the two make contact with each other. Otherwise no problems, except for what Crimson Ghost pointed out in that the Xenia is a fast grower under the right conditions and will overtake many parts of your tank. Khal mentioned that carbon be used and adequate space be made available for the Xenia...so true.
I maintain about 30 stalks of both Kenyon Tree and Xenia in my 125 gallon tank, but fortunately, instead of throwing it out, I am able to trade it in at my local pet shop for other things!!!

I haven't had a problem with these two corals. I run carbon and they are on opposite sides of the tank (30g).
