    I have a 40b that is 4 weeks old and I just finally received my lights ;D . I bought the Aquaticlife 36" 4x39w

I have 2 clowns, cleaner shrimp, 2 emerald crabs, and a handful of small hermits and snails.

My question is I never used a true light on the tank, is it recommended that I acclimate the tank-mates with the light? Maybe start off with having the lights on for 6hrs for a couple of weeks then increase 1 hour every other week?

Prior to these lights I just used a tall lamp next to the tank all day.

    Thanks-
    Casey

light acclimation is only really important for corals, but your fish will appreciate it too. your plan looks good, but you could probably increase it by an hour every week with no ill effects

Thanks for the reply. Now, since I haven't had any "lights" on my tank, will I start to see algae growth? So I do/add something now that could keep it at a minimum?

    Thanks,
    Casey

Yes you will see algae growth.

Go to reefcleaners, a sponsor here plus a top notch retailer, fill out his form about your tank and he will give you a suggested clean up crew. He most likely will email you about your response to ensure you get the best crew. They usually include more members than you paid for.

You will probably have better success starting your own threads when you have a question rather than hijacking someone else's thread ;D.
