I currently have the red sea marine test kit. Is this liquid test kit going to be accurate for a reef tanks? I also have the instant ocean hydrometer. I was looking into the refractometers that my lfs has, which are quite expensive, but if i choose to buy from them, which one should i buy?

I got mine from Dr. foster and smith and it was only about $40, works great. As for test kits, I'm not a big fan of red sea because I have a hard time seeing the color changes and the scales they use are large IMO, but if they work for you, they should be fine.

Never used red sea, but as far as the refractometers go I would go with either the milwaukee or the captive purity because of (ATC) automatic temp compensation.

I use Salifert test kits for mag, alk, calcium. They are titration type tests, meaning there's a drastic color change which is absolutely unmistakable even for this semi-colorblind guy!

They're a couple of dollars more, but they're worth their weight in gold to me.

my only problem with the milwuakee is that it's almost $100. That's a bit to much i think out of my price range, especially since i will be needing to save up for a $500 skimmer
