    hey everyone -

Right now I'm working on building a sump for my 25 gal. I've got the actual sump made, and the overflow box ready to go. However, I have a few questions on bringing the water from the sump back to the aquarium. The pump I'm looking at is a Mag 5, which would hopefully provide more than enough power for the ~4 feet of head it'll be pushing against. Would this be the best pump?

Also, there seems to be a few different ways to pipe the water back up to the aquarium. Would PVC pipe serve this purpose better than flex-hose? The hose system seems like it would be easier, but I'm not sure if there would be drawbacks to using this method.

Last but not least, which type of system is best for dispersing the water in the aquarium? It seems that connecting pipe to two elbow joints and suction cupping them to the side of the tank would work the best.

Any comments (and suggestions) would be appreciated! Thanks

I used flex hose cause it is clear and I could see if there wa any blockage in pipe. Also with clamping ring it is easy to take apart and no glue. That is what I would use to plumb it.

I perfer pvc, I have worked with both and like pvc better. Remember to install a ball valve and/or a check valve(if needed). I like to use Loc Line to disperse the water into the aquarium. Oh....and dont forget a union too. Luna

I agree 100%. I've used both and PVC has always worked better.

Yes it's safe. I've even glued and been running water through it 1 minute later.
