i just got my light fixture, and i don't think i see any mounting brackets so that i can mount it on my tank. I see the holes on top of the fixture so that you can hang it, but i will not be hanging the light.

Yes, the mounting kit is a separate option.

I should add that I HIGHLY recommend hanging it though ;) You can precisely adjust the height, and also just swing it out of the way when doing tank maintenance. It's a much nicer way of doing it ;)

ah man. Means i'm going to have to wait a while longer until i get my light up and running :( i thought they came with the light. My credit card is full right now, so i have wo wait a while longer to get this light setup. Since i was just researching the mounting brackets and their like $70!!!

i don't think my parents will let me drill a hole in the ceiling to hang the light. But if i tell them that's the only option as the mounting bracket is $70-$90 they will say either a) ok b)wait c) take the light back and return it for another one

oh wait! i just thought of something, lol for now what if i just have it resting on the egg crate? would that work, or would that heat up the water to much, nothing is in the tank except for lr, and ls, so i'm not worried about burning up anything at this time

I would not use egg crate as it isnt very strong.

ok, i will nix that idea then. If i can talk my parents into letting me hang the light, would buying the chain be cheaper than purchasing some mounting brackets? i'm kind of broke at the moment and don't really have much money to buy anything else
