I have a 90 gallon tank with a 35 gallon sump but with rock and everything I am estimeting about 100gal of water volume. Is a 10 gallon water change every 2 weeks a good routine or should I do a larger one. I don't want to do it every week.
I dose 2 part and also have carbon and gfo running. Parameters are fairly steady.

10% every other week sounds great to me
provided your water quality remains constant as in , does not deteriorate then its fine

Im doing an identical amount but my choice was to do 5% each week

Just had a second look at your stocking list
do you have any corals at all?

because with that low bio load in your aquarium, you may not actually need to change 10% every other week either IMHO

and you may consider doing 5% every other week, and monitoring your parameters and general conditions in your set up and increasing should the need to arise ( which with that bio load, Im pretty sure it would not do)

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
My water change routine is the same as well, and I dose two part accordingly between water changes. For me the tank remains pretty stable.

    well in that case Supernova
carry on with the 10% bi weekly as you continue to make additions to your set up, and test Nitrates weekly and adjust your maintenance routine should you find you need to

    I agree.

    WC serve 2 purposes.

    1. Dosing. But if you dose outside of WC, then this isn't really relevant.
    2. Nutrient export. But if you are maintaining clean water without WC, this isn't relevant.

Otherwise you're doing WC for the sake of WC.

I've done one WC in the past 18 months...

But if my nitrates or phosphates were measurable, I'd do them more often...

Keep the bioload low, don't overfeed, and dose and WC are just extra work.

Interesting. I never do water changes on my freshwater tanks but with corals I feel like they need trace elements. I am not dosing any trace elements so water changes should be enough to replenish the water columnn.
