Im looking at getting a Halide fixture for my 75 gallon tank and was wondering if i should go with the 2x150 or 2x250? I want to be able to house every kind of coral whether i get it right away or not. If the 2x150 will be enough light then i will go that route to save a little cash and energy.

I would go with 150s or 175s. I would not go to 250s unless the tank is over 22 inches deep.

If you plan on keeping Hard corals then the 2. 250's are a must I'd do 3. 175 I run 3. 400's and 2 48" VHO for actinics on a 90 But I keep only SPS corals

    250's ftw.

you cannot have too much light.

    you will always want more!

it will cost you a lot more to buy the 2x150 to "save money" then decide to buy the 2x250 later.

get some hanging pendants they are relatively inexpensive.

congratulations on your decision to go MH.

i think everyone who has corals period should have MH.

would you guys recommend the current usa outer orbit or the sunpod? Would the sunpod produe enough blue light from the leds to act like actinics?

neither... get some hanging pendants or clamp on style... i think those fixtures are way overpriced and aside from the led moonlights what's the point?? they don't put out enough light and the reflectors aren't as good.

not to mention you can't really adjust them as well... some people like the look i think they look bulky.

and if you have a 14k or 20k bulb there is no need for actinic supplementation.

14k looks like 10k mixed with actinics... 20k looks like 50/50's mixed with actinics.
