Not really a asap bc i know that i can wait. i have been cycleing a 125 gal tank for about 2.5 weeks now. i have about 100 lbs of live rock and i test the water ever other day and seen the nitrates and ammonia go up and down. ph is 8.3-8.4. no nitrites cal is 930. right now the fish i have in it are a coral beauty and a scooter blenny, about 15 hermets and 20 nassarius snails. my question is am i ok or wait a lil longer to get tang?? ex: yellow, blue, purple, lavender, sailfin you get the point i wouldn't get a tang that isnt hardy. if you think i should simple wait no problem i have done the waiting game befor with my 90. thanks for the help.

i would wait. while yellow tangs are hardy(my first fish, store out of damsels) i would advice to wait a couple more weeks until your parameters stop fluctuating. also calc is almost double what it should be, you should lower it.

uhh 2.5 weeks? and a Ca of 930!? Is you're water cloudy by chance?

I don't think its a good idea to have any fish this early. especially a CB and a scooter blenny. And I would definitely wait until your ammonia and nitrites level out to even think about adding another fish. Even IF you're current fish make it through the cycle.

Sorry, I don't mean to sound rash or anything!! I'm just giving you my opinion...

Whoa! What is going on? Did you get any advice before hand? That tank is way too young to have anything in it let alone thinking of putting in more. I do not believe the Calcium is 930. The reading is either a bad test kit or tester error. To insure success down the road you will need to allow the tank to "season" and establish a good biological filter system. I would add nothing for at least another month.

50 percent of the water came out of the 90 gal when i have done water changes. retook the cal test today and the kit was a lil off it is 500. the fish are fine and the scooter is great he eats brine and flake food. no one is rash haha i have had many tanks befor i know waiting is the best and i just thought since most of the water is from my established tank for over a year now that i would be ok? but im not right all the time and understand that.

The water that came from the 90... that'll speed things up. How old is that water though? I mean, how long since you removed it and has it been circulating, etc. the whole time?

ok, i thought you meant you were using the 'discarded' water from the water changes...

That's better than if you just moved it from one tank to another :)

Do not add anything. As stated before by others, I agree that you shouldnt have any fish at all this early, let alone think of adding more.
Also, why are you doing water changes? You should not be doing any water changes during the cycling period. Thats why your params keep fluctuating, as your never giving the biological filter time to catch up with the bioload. Stop doing water changes, wait at least a month, then see where you are from there.
