i have a 50g tall tank and i have a 150w mh i dont think it is enough. i am about to get a 175w mh and run both of them in the canopy. so my question is would it be too much or would it be about right or could it be too close to the water and fry everything? the 175w is a coral life with 2 PC's and the other is a current usa mh with 6 blue and 6 white leds.

As long as both units are 8 to 10" above the water you should be OK. You will definitely need to acclimate your tank to the new light.
