So I want a Wrasse. But I am limited to only one kind as an option. It's the 6-line. I just wanted to ask a few questions and see if anyone here might have answers from keeping these guys themselves.

I have a 29 galloon reef tank with around 35lbs of LR, and I will be adding about 10lbs more within a week or so. Currently i have a lawnmower blenny, emerald crab, 2 peppermint shrimp, various reef safe snails, a few blue leg hermits, and a bicolor pseudo. I also have a small 'field' of yellow pollyps, a lavendar mushroom, and a dozen or so really small feather dusters (all the coral and feathers were hithhikers on a single piece of liverock that i recently got. It's a story to itself. Check the post about it in 'corals' for pics!)

My tank is cycled and all parameters are exactly where they should be. I have PC lighting (actinic and 10K. both 65w each) and I have moonlights, though I doubt that will matter to the wrasse. I will be adding a MH spot or two in a couple of weeks as well.

I will be getting a black clown at some point, and probably a few other more docile inhabbitants.

    So here are the questions:

    1. Does anything that i listed above not jive with a 6-line. I have read all that I can about them, and nothing seems to stick out as a problem, but I wanted to check.

    2. Since I know I am going to want a black clown, which should come first? I know that clowns like to pick a spot in the tank as there own, and I will have a few things in the future that one might even host if I'm lucky (BTA, frogspawn, etc.) but those won't be there for a while, and most info I have read says to add the things you want the clown to host first, so if it won't cause issues, I would like to add the clown later on.

    3. Is there anything that i could/should add to make the Wrasse happy that i don't have yet?

    4. What are the best foods in your experience. I have all the general info, but I also know that some things tend to be better or preferred.

    Thanks guys.

Hi, I have a 6 line in with a Percula clown in a 14 gal. Biocube and they tolerate each other well. The clown wants to try to bully a little but the Wrasse will only tolerate so much and then turns and "faces-off" against the clown and nips at him and then they go on about their business. No real hard core aggression. Now the bi-color Dotty back may have a problem with the Black clown or visa versa. You do not have enough light for a BT Anemone. You will need to upgrade if you want one. Make sure your rock work has a lot of small niches and caves for the Wrasse.

I would be worried with the dotty just because in my experience, they attack EVERYTHING! since a sixline is similar in shape, it may be an issue so if you do decide to try it, get ready to get rid of one. Otherwise everything else seems fine and for food (I know others will have a different opinion), I do a combo of froz mysys/brine/and formula1 and soak in selcon before feeding and have had great success with this combo.

Thanks for all of the info guys.

I guess I should mention that the BTA wil come after I add the MH lamp...I think I mentioned the lamp, but if I didn't then...well there it is.:)

Are there any Wrasse that I have overlooked that would go well in my tank other than the 6? I know I haven't found anything, but have I missed one?
