    i was read that GFO can drop you alk down, my alk is at 7 right now, i will be ordering kalk to raise my alk up but should i hold off on using the gfo or can i go right ahead with it there are no coral in the tank, i plan on adding in like 4-6 months all i have in the tank right now is my CuC

    also how much gfo should you put in the system?

    the main reason i ask is i got my Innovative Marine MiniMax All-In-One Media Reactor in today im anxious to set it up and let it rip

    Does GFO lower alk, should i just wait till i can get a dosing pump to does the alk and run the GFO?

    If you have no corals then I wouldn't worry about the possible alk drop.
    BRS calculator is a little on the high side, so I would start with half of what they recommend.

    it says to do 9 tbs so i should do 6tbs? i wana try to start getting my lvls stable so i can in 4-6 months get coral

    If you have no corals then i would start using the GFO and monitor the alk drop and practice compensating for it now while there wont be any casualties.

    I dont think it really matters what you start out with for GFO usage. there arent corals that will be harmed by stripping the po4 out too quickly.
