I'm very new to the reef family. As a matter of fact I don't own a reef, but my mother just started one and got a light today that has three settings. What is the bright blue light for? I assume the light blue is nighttime and the white light is daytime.

Actinic lights are lights that do not really brighten the tank, but help to bring out certain colors. They emit light in the blue-UV end of the light spectrum and this light can greatly enhance the colors of some corals
