So my helios 2x55 watt pc fixture that I got for free from work decided to go kaput. I have been looking into a t5ho or vho fixture that is 4x24 watt. The brand escapes me at the moment, but will this be enough to penetrate a tank that is approx 20inch deep. Also, what kind of corals can I expect to keep with this type of fixture? SPS up top and softies towards bottom? Thnx everyone.

I forgot to add that I will also be running an 24 inch coralife 14 watt 10,000K daylight and 14 watt true actinic 03 blue fixture with this fixture

    so you will have 1 x 10k and 1 x actinic 03 - what will the other 2x T5 tubes be

or did you mean to say 2 x 10k and 2 x actinic - as that sounds like a good start to me

    as for corals

all the basic softies (shrooms, Zoanthids, GSP, yellow polyps, clove polyps, leathers, toadies, etc you know the ones ) and LPS will be fine in a 20 inch deep tank with 4 x T5S
and many SPS corals will also be ok in terms of lighting needs under that amount of lighting

but as you probably already know, lighting is only 1 of the important aspects for succesfull SPS keeping ( water quality/ chemistry/ parameters/ flow being critical to long term pleasure with these species)

so I would suggest, if you are new to SPS , get 1 or 2 frags, and see how well they do
before commiting to them in a big way.

It will be two fixtures total. One being a coralife 2x14 watt...one 10 k and one actinic (fifty dollar fixture). The second will be the 4x24 watt fixture with two 10 k and two actinic and four or six moonlights I beleive it is.
