A recently discovered Craigslist Ad puts me 2nd in line to pick up a 110 gallon 6-panel aquarium for free. The reason it's free is because it's leaking. Assuming it's not a cracked panel, I was just going to do a quick reseal and setup the tank up. My question is, is there any tricks to resealing non-90* corners? I've installed baffles before so I have some experience with silicone. From what I can tell, it would just need to be a slightly fatter bead of sylicone to ensure it's all sealed.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I've never done it but been told that you need to separate the panels to reseal it properly. But a wider bead may do it. I would be afraid of it letting go though, and that's a lot of water to let go on the floor.

I would try and find another tank that isn't leaking, they can be found pretty cheap, but that's just my opinion.

No but probably find one for $100, and at least it's a little piece of mind IMO. But if you're up to the task, go for it.

Go to Youtube.com. They have a ton of videos on how to repair tanks. The ones I've seen say you have to remove the old silicone, clean it well and re-apply fresh silicone (aquarium safe kind). Good luck. I am currently repairing a small 15 gallon one.

To do it correctly you'll have to strip off the old silicone and simply put a new bead in its place. Its fairly easy and if you put a line of tape just outside the area to be sealed you can create a straight edge where the silicone ends by pealing the tape off after the silicone is applied while it is still wet. Make sure you dont skimp on the quality of silicone though, some of the cheap stuff will turn yellow over time.
