Questions about wet/dry filter?

Hi all, I have a 55 gallon with a wet/dry rated for 125gallons. It is a reef set up with about 25 different corals and three fish with hermits, shrimps and snails. I have floating tiny particles all the time, I change filter pad every two weeks. Even when new it's like it's not picking up the fine particles. Any sugestions on what brand and type pad? Currently I use the Marineland Rite-size filter pad I cut myself. I do have live sand and about 80 lbs of live rock. One other question, should I run live rock in my sump instead of bio-balls? Guy at fish shop recommended it to me.

 

you could have too much flow... Ditch the bioballs for sure...

Could the small particles be bubbles? I had a problem a long time ago with a skimmer letting bubbles in to the tank.

 

Thanks for the reply. Should I fill the bio-ball area completely full of live rock? As for the particles, they are not bubbles. Way to small to be bubbles, I even have a piece of plexiglass in my sump to seperate bubbles from reaching the pump inlet.

 

Ditch the bio-balls and the fine partuculate matter will be removed more so with an efficient and effective protein skimmer!!!!
