All my equipment is up to date except my lamps and fixtures. I would like to know if these need to be updated/replaced. I'm working a FOWLR. Currently in my 4th day of curing rock in tank.

    LAMPS: 1-all glass aquarium 15w 18"lamp
    1-med F15T8/Actinic 420 coral sun 18"/ 457M
These lamps have slight darkening on the ends and were purchased roughly 2 years ago.

FIXTURES: 2-Perfecto Mfg. Inc. Model 45/60 Hex PFA-F 120v/60hz/17 watts, manufactured in july 1999

Since I have a Hex, the lamps are roughly 30" above the sand. I dont know if these are the right lamps for the type of tank I'm working on. As far as the fixtures, as long as they work, they should be ok, right? Also, when and if I change the lamps, should I change the starters as well?

This is a great sight and I look forward to some feedback. Thanks again.

If it is FOWLR those lamps will be fine but they need to be replaced. If you want to have corals you will want to get T5HO or metal halide fixtures.
