I just picked up my new tank today its a standard 90gal. I currently have a 54gal bow front corner tank that I will be selling after I get everything moved over. Just wondering what the procedure is for doing this. I will be needing more sand and LR. Should I let it cycle, then add the rest of my LR from the existing tank? This is an addicting hobby, it only took me 6 months to figure out I needed something bigger!;D

if youre gonna be using your existing LR , consider buying base rock. big savings , and your old LR will seed the base rock.

if moving everything over at once and only adding some base rock and dead sand.. you shouldnt have to worry so much for cycling in new tank.. I believe.. just keep livestock in some big coolers or rubbermaid bins with PH and airstones in there.. while the process is taking place.. probly will take you 4-6 hours to do this.. so have a full day set aside.. good luck.. post some pics when done.. :)

I would get all new sand for the 90 and all dry base rock. add the sand to the tank, stack the new base rock and add enough new saltwater to cover it. now add the live rock from the old tank and take a cup of the old sand and spread it over the sandbed.
    finish filling with water.
If you can let it run a day or 2 and make sure the parameters are ok before adding the inhabitants from the old tank. should be ok if you cant but better safe than sorry if possible.
