I built a canopy for my 75G and it is 49'' wide x 19'' deep x 14'' high and I mounted my MH's 12'' off the water. The question I have is 12'' to high for the atinics or should I make them lower, and if so how low would you recommend... Thanks

Put the tubes about 3 inches above the tanks rim closer the better with VHO's T5's or P/Cs

Keep the MH high as the heat will warm up the tank and any water being splashed around by fish could break a bulb when hot. The VHOs can be closer to the bottom.

I have my halides at 5" above my water is all. I have no salt creep issues nor do I have a big problem with the halides increasing the water temp as a continuously run a fan to aid in evaporational cooling!
