    Hello,

There are a few things you can do. How long are the outages typically last for ?
I think one of the most important items is a heater, I guess depending on the tempertature anyway. Last time I had an outage the temp dropped 6' I have a UPS on each tank now that lasts 30 minutes, enough time to get the generator running.

I would recommend a APC UPS system witht he battery addon. Should last up to and hour if you dont add all the parts, just the heater and maybe one pump.

    Good luck

If you want to be a badass like Otty you can put your entire house on a generator! Still haven't heard what the bill will be for that one!!

If you want the whole system(tank) to run like normal, get a small generator. If thats not in the budget, then you need some Batt. operated fans, air pump and if possible, a PH. When Hurricane Katrina hit, all I had was 2 batt. operated air pumps. Thats it and I lost nothing. Luna

5500 watt honda generator. you can run a tank, fridge and 1 light...possible a fan too. it's a really smart investment, I know I went thru Charlie, Frances & Jeanne. We worked for a company that rented Big generators during that time, so I had ac and dryer and everything during the hurricane's.....:) Also, My tank was without power this past mother's day because of the tornado, and my boss had a gen I used. Oh yeah one note.....If anyone here(who doesn't know) ever uses a generator, make sure you don't run it inside your house or garage. If it's turned on, it needs to be outside.......
