Hi, i have a 28g JBJ nanocube and im building a refugium in the back of it. Theres a three stage filter that comes with it, and im planning to put chaeto in the first compartment, lit by a JBJ nano-glo, with the sponge next and the carbon in the chamber after that (see the picture for clarification on anything). Now heres the dilemma- There is a space below the 3 stage filter, and i am wondering if i should put the purigen that i have down there? im just not sure if it will do any good, because the water is not really passing through it, just over the top of it. Should i maybe put the purigen in the last chamber and put the carbon underneath the whole thing instead? Sorry if this is confusing. Also another option would be to take the purigen out entirely and put the ceramic rings that came with thte tank back in. Ive heard bad things about doing this but at my LFS they have my exact tank with the setup with the ceramic rings and it appears to be doing quite nicely. Really any opinions or tips would be useful thanks ;D

p.s. sorry about the quality of the picture hahaha im not that good at microsoft paint

I would put the purigen in place of the sponge.

When setting up a nano fuge you need to ask yourself "what do I want to accomplish with this fuge.?" Then just add the components that are going to get you the results you want. I would ditch the sponge also. It's only going to be a maintenance headache in the smaller set-up, it may become a nitrate farm. With cheato, purigen and carbon you don't need it. JMHO;)
