Quick Phyto Question

I just picked up some phytoplankton for the tank. Is it supposed to smell bad?

 

That depends on what you mean by "bad" If it smells somewhat like romaine lettuce then it should be fine. If it in any way smells rotten, dump it.

 

It doesnt smell pretty. But as you use it more and more air gets in, then it will really stink. You can keep it fresher longer by squeezing the air out of the bottle.

 

It should have an expiration date on the bottle. If its close then I would take it back.

 

It smells like..... Sulfur?

 

Kinda like rotten eggs? If so, return it to the store.

 

yep, exactly like rotten egg. No good anymore eh? Darn!

 

i would toss it, i have some kent marine phyto max 2 yrs old smells similar to fresh cut grass.

some brands of phyto must be refridgerated.

 

Yeah I got it in the mail two days ago and it went right into the fridge.... I'll go pick up a new bottle from the LFS if they have any.
