I just purchased 6 new T5 bulbs to replace the original bulbs in my fixture. Do I need to shorten the amount of time the lights are on to allow the corals to adjust? I have a sunset montipora that seems to be extremely sensitive to lighting changes and I don't want to bleach it again.

T5s are pretty good for 9 months, no more than a year in my opinion and that's pushing it. I run my daylights 6-8 hours and my blues 12 hours. Cut it shorter if you want to if you want to extend the life of the bulbs.

Only replace one bulb at a time.I usually then wait two weeks then replace another and so on until you have replaced them all.You shouldn't have to shorten your light cycle with this method.;) Good luck!

Two ways replace all of them the reduce your light period in half and an hour per week or replace one bulb every 3 to 7 days. Or you can be ultra careful like Vinny and change every two weeks. Top of the line bulbs should last a year.
