I was worried that it would be too much light. On the link, it says that the tank is 48'' long, but I'm not sure if they said the tank itself or the whole thing.

If it's the tank it self then I was going to get the 48'' fixture, but if the tank measures less I was thinking on getting the 36''.
I asked my teacher to measure it for me since I am not in school, but I was wondering, If I were to get the 48'' and the tank it self was 36''.. would it be too much light?

I like the 48 more because it has two MH bulbs, as opposed to 1. The only problem would be too much light? ( if it was, could I just choose the 2-150W MH ? in the 48inch or can I go ahead and get the 2-250W?)

I really just want to go with a good Metal halide fixture. I would like to know what do you guys think on the fixture I posted?

I have nothing against LEDs, but I think that for now I rather steer away from them.

If youre set on the halide then that is probably considered the industry standard for that type of fixture

But do you think it might be too much light given the circumstances?
Or do you think either way (48" vs 36) will be ok?

IMO you should get a 4 bulb T5HO fixture, one of my LFS's said their electric bill was lower, colors were better, and there was less heat.

I have T5HO right now for my 150G and I am pretty happy with the results, but since I have never tried MH I wanted to see how it looked. Especially since we have the budget for them.

The only thing is that I really don't know much about lightning and there seems to be a big difference between the 48'' and the 36''. So I was wondering if it would be ok to get the 48'' light fixture or should I wait to get the exact dimensions?

I had a 48'' rated lights for my 36'' tank before, but these were just T5HO and not MH. That's why I'm hesitating on getting them and I wanted some input on them. Those are also the only MH T5HO that called my attention. Not sure if there are any better MH fixtures similar to this one that are better. ( in which case I would love it if I could get some input on that as well please)
