Also, if I do end up getting the 48'' should I get the 2-250W or should I get the 2-150W?
    What would be best?

If it's a 36 inch tank I'd just get the 36 inch fixture personally, but like you said its their money haha. I have one 250 over a 36 inch tank and it does fine, so I would prolly say the 2 150s would be more than enough.

Yeah, I actually decided to do that at the end. I sent my teacher a message asking her to place the order for the 48'' with the 2-150W bulbs and the 2x54 T5HO.
I also got a timer ordered with this fixture, so I can get it automated :p

I honestly can't wait to start working in this tank. This will be the first time I will get almost all the equipment before I start working on it ;) LOL This is good because I won't have to waste time and get to work sooner.

May 21st will be the day I will flood this thread with Pictures of all the equipment. So stand tight 8)

So, Now that I have the lights picked out..
Its time to pick out a skimmer for the tank.

I was thinking on going Octopus for this.:p
    A nice 100G rated Octopus.
However, I kinda needed some advice, I need this to be an external skimmer because as you can see I can't really put it inside the tank because I have no place for it since I do not have a sump. ( nor the space to have a sump)

Here is a pic so you guys get an idea on how the tank will be set up. It's will stay where it is, so I just kinda have to work around it.

The white part of the tank is where the overflow and the pre-installed chiller is in. So no space there.

I wanted to just put it behind the tank and just find a pump to get water into the skimmer and another to get water back into the tank. ( if that's how they work?).

I guess the question is if someone could confirm this? or explain how this will work?
Also, which site would be the best to get a skimmer?

..any freestanding one with an external pump, just sitting next to it and plumbed with an in and out coming into the backside of the DT. ? ..I would say one with a nice footprint, so as to be stable.

I found this one. Do you think this will do nicely? Maybe too big? It is rated for 120G

Actually I take that back LOL
I read the title again and it says that it is an internal skimmer, but as I am browsing I can't seem to find any external skimmers that are rated lower than 300G.. I'll keep looking :p

Any help would be appreciated. I would prefer reef octopus ;)

not feeling the pump here...like the other better, but looking at the first one...it looks like its is a wet pump...need an external pump and good plumbing..ask around...but I think the first one would be fine..I've seen a few set up outside the sump...where theres a will theres a way ! :cheesy:
