Quick SKimmer Help Please

I have the coralife super skimmer 125 and on the return I am using the gray hose with the gray box with all the foam ansd stuff in it. So at the top of the return hose is a little stem standing there with water shooting up out of it? What can I do to fix this impossible skimmer? It does that on a dry skim it stops on a wet skim but puts fresh clean water in the overflow jug....This skimmer is being used as an HOB it does not apear to be skimming at all...I have a 55 with some corals 5 fish and 65 pounds of live rock so there is no reason for it to not be skimming something. Help please

BTW I just cleaned the collection cup and the pump....

try naming the part(s) you are talking about or post a pic, I have the one for 65 gal. and think I have worked out all the kinks so will be glad to help if I know exactly what the issue is.

 

Okay on the return I have water coming out of the vent hole....
It is also running clean water into the collection cup, not skimmate....
There is also foam coming out of the tiny holes in the lid on top of the collection cup....
It is also filling my D.T. with macro bubbles....
This is being used as an H.O.B. not in sump or refugium....
Even set at the lowest dry skim it is not doing anything except running good tank water into the collection cup......

Also the user here I bought this from did not give me the water level adjustment valve that is above the pump.....
