well when talking about tangs it is recommended that no tang is in a tank less than 75gallons but... a yellow tang should do fine in there. and maybe a kole tang *some one correct me if im wrong*

but yeah people keep yellow tangs in tanks as small as a 55gallon. ive also seen hippo tangs on 55g that are doing fine.

Many people believe tangs shouldn't be in a tank of any less than 100 gallons, due to activity level and temperament. But, people do have them in smaller tanks. It's a touchy subject with a lot of different opinions.

well the question is tough.. are you planning a tank upgrade in the future? i feel when the tang is small they can be kept in a smaller tank, so if you get a baby tang i feel you can pick anykind you like... but only if you plan to upgrade you tank to a 6 foot tank.my gf thinger had a yellow tang in a 55 gallon tank for about 6 months and it was fine in there but it was small.

Are you going to upgrade soon? Or will you be ok with selling/trading the tang in the future?

A small Yellow Tang should be fine, but the decision of weather you feel its cruel too put a Tang in a tank smaller than 100g is up too you.
