I have a few pumps (koralia 2 and maxi jets) soaking in some vinegar to remove some build up of coraline and buble algae. My question is is what do I do once their removed from the vinegar? Do I just rince them with RO and their good to go?

    Thanks.

I would soak them 3 different times in different batches of RO water to make sure they are vinegar free

I'd take a tooth brush to them during the soaking process. Just make sure they are rinsed off really good. RO water is a little overkill but yeah, just a good soak and rinse.

What I do is disassemble the powerheads, and soak them overnight in vinegar. Then take them out and give em a little scrubbing with a new clean toothbrush under running hot tap water. Then shake off the tap and rinse off with ro/di and reassemble.

The nice thing about vinegar is it does no harm to your tank. Many people actually use it as a supplement in their systems.

You don't even have to rinse if you don't want to, I would just to remove the larger particles though. I use straight distilled white vinegar, not diluted or cut with water since this alters the pH which is counterproductive. Once I am done soaking or cleaning I pour the vinegar through a paint strainer or paper towels to remove the debris then pour it back in the jug and reuse it over and over. That way I get months and months out of a single $1.50 gallon jug.

FYI, don't leave the rubber parts like O-rings, suction cups and shaft grommets in the vinegar more than a few hours as the vinegar attacks the rubber given time.
