so ill be moving in the next couple weeks and going to start off my tank very soon, do you think its worth getting a large container with saltwater and place some live rock in the container with good water movement and let the rock cure then just add to tank in a few weeks when i set it up or just wait till i move then just buy the live rock and add it then, my LFS dont sell Cured Live rock, stupid but bored and looking for something to do with my tank lol

yep it really does work and is beneficial for the wallet species that grows and or shrinks in the rear pocket region ;).... i did this when i set up my 300 gallon tank in my basement ....400lbs of live rock gets pricy but base rock wasnt too bad :)

I would highly suggest getting dry base rock for most of what you need... reefcleaners is currently running a sale on their excellent base rock for $1.25lb + shipping. MarcoRocks.com also has great base rock at reasonable prices (have this in my tank) and Bulkreefsupply.com is a third reliable source.

then you just follow your initial plan with just a few ponds of "live" rock to help seed the rest. you just saved on average* $4.99 to $9.99 a pound on the recomended 120lbs of rock needed for a 75 gal reef

    * depending on the price per pound at your LFS

LFS prices are 4.99 to 8.99 per pound of live

normal rule of thumb is 1.5lbs per gallon
I would start with 95% of that as dry base rock which averages $2 a pound
