Hi all. I am wondering if anyone can tell me which water pumps are the quietest? Again, this is for a new 90 gallon tank with 30 gallon sump, so we are talking about pumps for the return and also whatever powerheads are needed for the tank. This will be in my family room, so I prefer not to hear a loud constant hum from the aquarium.

    Thanks!

I have a mag 9 on my 90 gallon tank as a return. I can only hear a very low hum.

I can tell you a couple that aren't quiet...
    I have two PanWorlds a 150 and a 100.. they're moderately noisy.
I had a GenX 40 that was very loud.

Do you want to go with a submersible or external pump?
External pumps are generally better, since they don't transfer much heat into your water.

External pumps would be Little Giant and Reeflo low rpm pumps.

If that is the green ones I have set one up and for no more water then it was moving I could hear it in the stand. I am speaking from experience on the Little Giant and Reeflo. My Reeflo HammerHeads are pushing 5,800gph and you can't even tell they are running.
