    No they will fight They do not make new mates easely. You would have to put them together in a new tank so no territories are set.

    Man I am sorry for your loss. :( I didn't think 5 years is old for fish. I have seen lions and puffers that reached well over 15 years old. My maroon is 4 or so, he's (or she) about 5" long. Now I'm worried mine is old. I just got a juvenile maroon to try and become a mate too. :(
    Anyhow, sorry for your loss, that really sucks. :(

    i have read that maroons only live for about 6 to 7 years so i guess 5.5 isnt that for off.
    thanks everyone for you concern of my fish passing but on the bright side its room for something new and with something new comes research and planning. ill keep you all posted on what it is i decide to do.
